Saint Catalina Labourè parish complex - Madrid - Spain
The Santa Catalina Labourè parish complex aims to offer a solution as to the kind of aesthetic the Catholic Church should follow in preaching the gospel to the modern world. The basis for the design decisions, both as to style and ecclesiastical purpose, can be found in the documents of the Second Vatican Council. The design consists of a central section for the church space itself. Areas for other pastoral activities are locating in a building which, thanks to its roof, is entirely unique and able to accommodate the largest congregations. The aim was also to create a quality urban landmark, through the balanced use of local materials such as Galician stone, blue windows glass, timber veneers on load-bearing parts and a gilded copper roof reflecting the light of the sun through the surrounding urban space.

"Prestige Gold", not just another roof
This elegant shingle is made up of eight different layers. The principal materials are polypropylene, oxidised bitumen, fibreglass, low density filler, HP bitumen, copper foil and a gold coating. The large shingle size (100 x 34 cm) features a joint cover, also finished in gold. The roof produces the kind of powerful impact that usually only famous historical buildings produce.

Good insulation and comfort
Apart from its architectural features, the roof’s functions have been carefully designed to ensure proper functionality, i.e. that it has good ventilation, moisture discharge, breathing and is waterproof. The advantages of our roofing technology are instantly noticeable in both summer and winter. In summer the ventilation system ensures the building is comfortable to live in as it naturally discharges heat build-up in the roof, preventing it from flowing through into the building’s interior. In winter, proper air circulation ensures the insulation is well ventilated and therefore dry. With the ventilated roof by Tegola Canadese your roof also has a longer life and reduces energy consumption.
